Oyster & Wine Tasting Kayak Tour - Review
A couple of the FreemanX team recently went on an Oyster
and Wine tasting kayaking trip on the central coast
of NSW, it was such a great experience that we’ve
added it to our site.
The day started with a sleep in, as the experience
started at 11am, which was a great time to start ( I
for one, am not an early bird). We received a quick
briefing on paddling techniques and had a trial paddle
before heading out along the Brisbane waters.
The guides were great, allowing the faster kayakers
to travel ahead with one guide and the more relaxed
kayakers with the other guide. Although we stayed as
a group having many breaks so no one got tired. First
port of call was one of the many oyster farms along
the Brisbane Waters. Here the group all attached together
in raft formation to try some of the oysters and wine
that the guides had on board their kayaks, all nicely
chilled and did they go down smooth.
After a few oysters and wine, we headed to a small
beach where we all settled in for an awesome lunch.
This was well timed because by then I felt I could eat
a horse. Lunch included a selection of cold meats, rice
salad, bread rolls, and other garden greenies. More
cordial was available to fill the drink bottles, and
some really nice lamingtons were pasted around.
After a great feed we were free to have a kayak around
waterfall bay. We managed to embark on a little side
adventure FreemanX style, we found ourselves a tree
swing, almost at the base of the water fall for those
that may want to give it a go. The tree swing had to
be tried a number of times to ensure we had well and
truly mastered the art, especially as the water was
really nice and warm to swim in.
On the way back, we had a team relay event with 3 teams
racing each other. Naturally there was a bit of friendly
rivalry (I’m still sure we were cut off). Watching
the Pelican feeding was interesting, this is a daily
event which a lot of people come to watch and it gave
us the chance to sit back and float around for awhile.
It was only a short paddle back to base from the Pelican
feeding so we took our time, as the trip was drawing
to an end.
To finish the trip we were provided with warm flannels
to clean our faces and a mars bar for any sweet tooths.
This was a great experience and the eye for detail really
finished it off well.
Cheers guys for a great day.
